Beauty review: Superdrug B.Radiant BB Under Eye Concealer

Hi guys!

Welcome to my first beauty review.  Let's crack straight on shall we?

Today I'm testing and reviewing a concealer from Superdrug's new(ish) range of make-up, called B.  My quest for the perfect concealer is not a new one.  In fact I dread to think of the amount of money I've spent wasted on my search.  I have pale and very awkward combination skin.  I have terrible dark circles under and in the inner corners of my eyes.  The skin around my eyes is very delicate and products tend to settle into the fine lines or end up looking dry and cakey.  My make-up must be cruelty free and paraben free.  So, finding something that is able to contend with all these requirements is no easy task, let me tell you!

I decided to take a punt on the B.Radiant BB Under Eye Concealer as it was on offer and I'd read a glowing review of it online, from a fellow pale skinned girl no less.  Superdrug is against animal testing and the B range is cruelty free, vegan, and paraben free.  Things were looking good for this one!

Firstly, I like the packaging.  I much prefer sleek, black packaging for make-up - it's clean, classic, no-fuss and looks good.  I really like that when the cap is on there is a good amount of space around the brush tip, so that the lid doesn't get all gunked up with product.  The BB Under Eye Concealer is a click pen.  As with all click pen concealers I've tried, I had to turn the clicky end for what felt like forever before the product started flowing, which leads me to think that you probably don't get all that much product in it.

As mentioned, I'm pretty pale, so I chose the lightest shade, '124 Light'.  It only comes in three shades from what I saw in store - Light, Light/Medium, and Medium.

Excuse my hideously chipped nail polish.

I find it nigh-on impossible to find make-up the right shade for my face.  It's either not pale enough, or in the other extreme, looks like Halloween ghost make-up.  When I dabbed this around my eyes I thought it was going to be too dark, but once blended in I was pleasantly surprised.

Before blending

I normally use MAC Pro-Longwear concealer around my eyes, which is quite thick and can be a bit drying.  In comparison, the B.Radiant concealer was really light and more fluid.  I left it to 'set' a bit before blending it in, as I felt it would be too runny otherwise.  It blended in well and gave a nice illuminated, glowy look...

...for all of about five minutes.  By the time I'd put my eyeshadow and eyeliner on, the concealer had already started to settle into the fine lines and looked as though I'd been wearing it all day.  The colour already looked faded and I could see my dark circles showing through.  I ended up putting my MAC concealer over the top as I wouldn't have felt comfortable or confident relying on the B.Radiant.

So, another one bites the dust!  I'm really disappointed that it turned out to be a bust.  I did however use the concealer on the rest of my face as well, to see how it handled blemishes and redness.  I was much happier with it in this way and although the coverage isn't amazing, it did give a nice, illuminated appearance.  As it's so light in texture I'll probably just use it on any (very rare) good skin days and stick with the MAC Pro-Longwear as an undereye concealer for now.  I definitely wouldn't buy it again.

Do you have any wonder concealers you can share with me?  Leave me a comment below if you have any recommendations!  Once my current one runs out I won't be buying any more MAC make-up, as they are no longer cruelty free (read more here and here).  So my search is now even more desperate!  I really want to try the Maracuja Creaseless Concealer by Tarte, but they don't ship to or sell in the UK, booo :(

Anyway, I hope you're having a great day - it's Friday, y'all!  I can't wait until later as I'm getting a big yummy burger and fries for dinner, as a treat.

xx
