Cruelty free review - Xenca blush

I discovered Xenca through Twitter, when the lovely Suzie followed me. Always on the lookout for good, cruelty free make-up, I was immediately intrigued by the brand and had a look at their website, scouring through all the products. I liked what I saw and wanted to test out some of the make-up.

As someone who is passionately against animal testing, I was impressed by Xenca's dedication to being cruelty free. The brand states:

"Clinically, dermatologically and opthalmologically tested, our Perfection organic range of makeup is kind to your skin, kind to the environment and cruelty-free. The botanical ingredients are chosen for their therapeutic value and are suitable for sensitive skins. The powder and cream formulations are 100% natural, paraben-free, GMO-free and eco-certified."

Not only cruelty free, but they also tick my required box of paraben free - so far, so very good!

I tried the blush in shade 'Rose'. I've been using it for a couple of weeks now and here are my thoughts...

At £17.95 it's a little pricey, but no more so than brands such as MAC and Benefit (both NOT CRUELTY FREE) and you get a lot of bang for your buck - this blush is about twice the size of any I've used before and will last a very long time.

The packaging is sleek and I love that it's made from cardboard - so when you're finished with it, you can pop it straight in the recycling. Perfect! So many brands could learn from Xenca on this aspect. There is no mirror or brush included, but this is no problem for me - I do my make-up in the bathroom mirror and always use a big ELF brush for my blusher.

The blush comes in "two universal colours to suit all skin tones" - Rose and Bronze. Initially I was a little worried that the colour was going to be too dark for my very fair skin, as it looks quite dark in the compact. Once I applied it with a large blush brush though, I was very pleasantly surprised.

'Rose' is a dusky pink with blue undertones - perfect for those with a cool complexioned pale skin like mine.

The blush glides on so smoothly and gives a really natural flush. It blends well and can easily be built up if you want more depth of colour. For a natural glow, I really can't praise this enough. The blush I was using before was a much more obvious, candy pink, but the Xenca blush looks like I'm not wearing anything - like I just have a natural, rosy glow. It lasts really well too - I haven't had to do any touchups throughout the day, at all.

I've been wearing it every day and really love it. After two weeks of use, I've had no dry patches, irritation, or breakouts on my sensitive skin. And looking at the compact, you can hardly tell that I've used it - this is going to last forever! I give it a well deserved 9 out of 10.

I'm a definite fan of Xenca and can't wait to try more of their products. Knowing that I'm doing my bit for the environment, not supporting animal cruelty and not putting nasties on my face make this a no-brainer.

Have you tried any Xenca products? I highly recommend that you do! They also have a skincare range - check out their website here and for more info on animal tested make-up and why many brands are lying to you, read my post here. I'll have an extensive list of safe and guilty brands up soon.

xx

    1. I hadn't heard of them before either. You order with them online - if you go to xenca.com and click 'shop now', it should take you to the make-up etc and there's a dropdown menu to select country, so they must ship everywhere. Not sure how much it would cost though xo
