Treasure Trove

Morning, morning!

How was your weekend? Mine was chock-a-block and I am suitably knackered now. With the drier weather we've been having recently, I've been itching to get out on my bike, so on Saturday I took my bicycle - a 1970s Raleigh Wayfarer called Katy - out for a spin. I walked her down the huge hill and onto the cycle path, where I rode along merrily in the breeze for several miles.

When it got too gravelly and full of pot holes to continue, we stopped for a drink and some snacks (what bike ride, or any outing for that matter, is complete without snacks?) before heading back to the start. I managed to trudge s-l-o-w-l-y back up the massive hill and Hannes very kindly pushed my bike for me - what a hero!

I somehow managed to get up early on Sunday to go to a car boot sale. They are so hit-and-miss - sometimes I have amazing luck and find lots of treasure, but not so on this occasion. I did find a pair of nearly new binoculars though, which I've been meaning to buy for a while. I'm looking forward to taking a closer look at all the little birds who visit my garden.

I always forget how long the day seems when you get up early. When we got home, we grabbed the picnic blanket and sat outside with our lunch...then realised it was only 12 o'clock! It felt like it should be about 4pm! Feeling rather tired after our busy weekend thus far, a nap seemed the only way to go. Man, it was a good nap...which ended up lasting two hours, oops. A friend came round to go running with Hannes and I decided to join them (I don't know what came over me - cycling and running in two days?!). Obviously they left me for dust and I just alternated running and walking, gradually running for longer each time - I didn't want to overdo it. I think in total I managed maybe 3K, which isn't too shabby for a novice, I think. I need to get some proper running shoes if I'm going to keep it up and get better at it. If any of you lovely lot are runners, I'd appreciate suggestions for good shoes and also good running bras - ideally I'd like recommendations from those who are a D-cup or above. What do you wear to keep those bazoombas from bouncing?! Leave me a comment!

After all that exercising, we definitely deserved a righteous dinner, so I cooked up a veritable feast of a roast. Yum, yum and yum

Anyway, the actual point of this post, before I got sidetracked rambling about the weekend, was to share some pictures of the vintage treasures I found right here at home. I've had a jar of old bits and bobs, knick knacks and thingamidoodles sitting on a shelf for who knows how long. Over the weekend I finally sorted through it, chucked out the really useless tat and ooh-ed and aah-ed over what I found. Then my OCD side took over and I organised it by colour.

So much rad stuff!

Some of this stuff is crazy! It's impossible to pick a favourite, but I love the tiny green cameo, ballerina, toadstools, deer, kiss charm and that nutty red dog!

I love rediscovering things you'd forgotten about, whether it's trinkets like these, or an old favourite t-shirt.

Well, folks. It feels very strange not to be posting a Mugshot Monday this morning. I've gone full circle and am sitting lying here (yeah, I'm still in bed - what of it?) with the very first mug I featured: my My Little Pony mug, full of hot lukewarm tea.
I have a new, kinda related series starting tomorrow, so be sure to stop by and check it out!

Hope Monday is treating you well.
