Teacup Tuesday #4 - Anonymous roses

My poor blog has been a bit neglected over the past week or two. Not through choice; with my new job there has been a lot going on and, as I feared, I am wiped. the hell. out. Getting a job was necessity - I had zero money coming in - but I am still suffering badly with the aftereffects of cancer and treatment, particularly what is called post-cancer fatigue. I wish they'd come up with a better name for it, because it sounds really lame. There is no way to describe it - it's one of those things that unless you've experienced it, you can't know how it feels, or have anything to compare it to. On a basic level, it's kinda like M.E. (chronic fatigue syndrome) and it sucks. It hugely affects my life and is very restrictive.

The job itself is fine. Hardly a dream job, or what I want to be doing, but the institute I'm working at is pretty interesting - the basement is full of archives, fossils, entomology, taxidermy and who knows what else, which I can't wait to burrow my way through. Plus, the guys I'm working with are super nice and very laid back. And of course, there's Elvis, the office dog, hoorah. So basically I'm going to see how it goes for a month or two. If I can't cope with the fatigue levels then I'll have to reconsider my options. We shall see, we shall see.

Anyway, I digress. Today's teacup is a bit of an enigma, as there are no clues as to who made it. The only mark on the bottom says 'Made in England', but beyond that I have no idea. Even so, this is one of my favourites.

Technically, due to its shape, I think it's a coffee cup, but sshhh, we'll ignore that fact. I love the simple rose design combined with the intricate gold detailing.

Due to the lack of a maker's mark and the slightly wonky/misplaced patterning, I think this was probably a cheap and mass produced set. I ain't proud though and don't care for labels - I adore it just as much as any other teacup in my collection.

Hope the week is being kind to you thus far!

xx

  2. OOoh such a pretty pattern, Im a sucker for anything floral. Also I hope your job gets better but theres no harm in trying it out for a little bit of time! I honestly just started a job and already have decided its not for me, my personality just doesn't work for it but luckily its seasonal so Im sticking with it.

  3. I like the roses on this one. I'm glad the job is going well, hopefully things will pick up and you can continue with it. But I think people will be understanding if it's not possible at the moment, in time though, you'll be able to do everything you want. I can't really empathise with you but I can imagine. I hope things get better!
