Molly

Well, looky here, what's this?!

I have an introduction to make today. I've been dropping hints on Twitter for the past week or so, and mentioned here, about an exciting new arrival and this is she!

Meet Molly.

Molly is five months old and despite looking like an adult cat in every picture I take of her, she is actually tiny and still very kittenish. The poor love was dumped in a box at my local supermarket car park. How anyone can be so cruel is just beyond my comprehension. Luckily, someone found her and took her to a vet and she ended up at the local branch of Cats Protection, on whose Facebook page I saw her.

I've been thinking about getting a second kitty for a long time, but Soldier is my baby and it had to be just right. I knew that the right kitty would find me and, when I saw Molly, I just knew that she was the one. She and Soldier haven't met yet - they're being kept separate until Molly is settled in and has healed from her spaying operation, but I'm hopeful that they'll be friends. Can you imagine the cuteness of them curled up together?! Oh my gosh.

She came home with me on Saturday and is settling in really well. She is the sweetest little thing, with the loudest purr I've ever heard! I haven't heard her meow at all, but she does this insanely cute chirping noise, pretty much constantly. It's ridiculously adorable and has led to many squeals from me.

Molly is super affectionate and loves to be around people. She headbutts and smooches my hand all the time and greets me by touching her nose against mine in a little kiss - squee! Unlike Soldier, she loves laying on her back and having her tummy rubbed, whilst catching my hand with her paws. She is so gentle when she plays and loves it when I move my hand under the duvet - if you've ever seen footage of a fox jumping, that's exactly what she does.

The last few nights I've been catching up on Cat Watch, on BBC iPlayer and every time it starts, Molly rushes to sit in front of the laptop and watches intently. It's the cutest! She just sits and watches the kitties on screen, fascinated.

I've already had to take the poor bobbin to the vet twice, because the wound from her spay op wasn't healing. Unfortunately, I guess because she's so small, the wound is right in a crease, so every time she moves it gets rubbed and aggravated. She's now got a couple of staples in it, to keep it together and hopefully help it heal up. This means she has to wear a cone collar though, poor muffin! She's not loving it, but is getting used to it and it definitely hasn't stopped her playing.

Molly has heterochromia iridum, which is when someone has two different coloured eyes. One is crystal blue and the other amber yellow. I absolutely love it, I think it looks beautiful. She is the same kind of fluffy as Soldier - semi longhaired, with silky fur, ear tufts, fluffy mane, fluffy tail and what I call fluffy trousers. When looking around for a kitty, I knew I wanted it to be a rescue cat, female, fluffy, and unusual/special in some way. Molly ticks all of these boxes and more! I can't understand why anyone would abandon her the way they did, but their cruelty is definitely my gain - Molly is perfect!

Obviously I'll keep you updated on her progress and how the introduction with Soldier goes. And of course there will be many more pictures!

So, that's Molly! I'm so in love with my new furbaby! She says she's very pleased to meet you all and if you're fixin' to get a furbaby of your own, always remember: adopt, don't shop!

See you soon!

xx
