I'm going to jump right in and say I've had a reeeeally good week. Super, in fact. I don't know if it's the hint of spring in the air or what, but lately I have been feeling really, really happy.
This week several pretty wonderful things have happened: I finally opened my Etsy shop and sold lots of cards - thank you so much if you've bought one! As mentioned in a previous post, it's not 'officially' open in my mind - I have more things I want to stock and then I'll have a Grand Opening. I'm excited to have made my first sales though and this has made me extremely happy!
There are a few Mother's Day cards left if you still need one, and a couple of pastel framed prints - there's still time to order in time for next weekend! If you order before the end of Monday, you can take 5% of the frame, with code YAYMUM.
Also this week, I was approached by a magazine, who asked if I'd like to have some of my illustrations included in their next issue...um, HELL YES! I still can't quite believe it! I can't wait to get my hands on a copy and see my little creations in print!
Another pretty great thing that happened this week, is that I got a new (to me) car. It's only a few years old and to me is incredibly swish - i.e. it has central locking, power steering and electric windows! I've never had any of those things before. I've had my old car - The Beast - for ten years and, I have to admit, it is proving really difficult to say goodbye. I'm tearing up just typing this (not even kidding). We've been through a heck of a lot, The Beast and me, and have shared almost a third of my life. She's a ridiculous little car, who takes the same size tyres as a tow-trailer and only has an 847cc engine, but to me, she is glorious. She's never let me down, is seemingly indestructible and is legendary amongst those who know her. I haven't decided what will become of her, but I'm not letting her go just yet. I'm actually contemplating turned her into a greenhouse or hen house...
Anyway, the point was new car, yay. It's taking some getting used to, but it's nice to have some mod cons and safety features, instead of hoping no-one hits/squishes me in my glorified go-kart!
I have also be approached for another exciting project, but it's top secret at this point in time and I'm sworn to silence (sorry!). I am so excited at the prospect though and really hope it happens, eeeeep! I will share more when I'm allowed!
As well as these Big Deals, my week has been full of other top notch moments and memories, such as these:
Some truly excellent thrifting finds.
Wearing sunglasses for the first time this year.
Finding pretty tissue papers to craft with.
Going a little bit mental in Primark (haul still to come!).
Quiet moments drinking tea from a favourite mug and a sweet bunny treat.
Super sweet garden adventures with Molly - she had SO much fun!
And enjoying a delicious breakfast of waffles with maple syrup, yum!
What a splendid seven days.
I forgot to post any Surf Club links last weeks - oops. As it's International Women's Day, I wanted to share some posts that I've enjoyed this week, from some totally rad betties.
- Loving Rachel's tattoo of her cat, Dante, from Brighton Tattoo Convention. I love it when people share personal things like this.
- Cassy's post on test driving clothes in the fitting room made chuckle - I do all of these things, plus a few more!
- This post by Kaylah about comparison rang so true for me. In a world of instant access and online perfect versions of lives, it's hard not to compare ourselves to others. I always have to remind myself that I've just been through cancer; that my life was put on hold; that I may be a coupla years behind others and where I want to be, but that's okay. I am working hard, making progress and I will get there.
Thank you to these three and every other badass woman who encourages and inspires me! Let's continue to lift each other up.
What has made your week special?
