Sunday Cereal

Today is a bumper bowl of Sunday Cereal, forgot to post last week. I was caught up in the anxiety and the myriad of other emotions associated with my diagnosis date, so blogging wasn't really on my radar.

Firstly, thank you to each of you who left such wonderfully supportive and kind comments on my diagnosis story. I've posted about my experience of cancer before, particularly the aftermath, but I'd never shared what happened on the day I was diagnosed, in particular in that room, with anyone.

It felt like it was time. I felt I needed to systematically go through each moment and get it out, to put it in its place. It was a cathartic experience, for sure and I highly recommend anyone who has been through a traumatic event, to do the same. It ended up being my most viewed post, ever, so thank you again! And I'm sorry I made so many of you cry.

So it's been a bit of a mixed week. As well as my own cancer being at the forefront of my mind, I received some potentially devastating news from one of my best friends. I don't want to say more than that, but I cannot, will not believe that life could be this cruel. More tests and surgery is on the cards and I am hoping for the best possible outcome.

All this super scary stuff has me appreciating the little things even more. Yesterday was gloriously sunny (on a bank holiday weekend!) and I spent the day outside, in my garden, with Hannes, Soldier and Molly. The kitties hung out together so nicely and even had a little play, which was just lovely. It was a busy day for Molly Mayhem and when we got back inside, she took herself straight to bed and zonked out cold for hours! It was the sweetest thing, bless her heart.

We took the picnic blanket out and lay under the trees, dappled sunshine dancing on our bodies. I closed my eyes and was mindful to soak in the details of every moment: the gentle swoosh of the trees in the breeze, birds singing, bees buzzing, music from a live event a few streets over, and the warmth of the sun on my face. It was so peaceful and beautiful. Those moments really are what life is all about.

My day to day has been the usual mix of colourful and cute, with a couple of new friends mixed in as well - that beautiful, black, miniature poodle belongs to an Instagram/Twitter friend, who is now a real life friend, too! Hooray!

My first piece of birthday mail arrived, which is so exciting! I also bought myself way too many birthday presents, including several from my birthday wishlist post. You'll have to wait and see which items I bought though!

My birthday is next Saturday and I have a superfun day planned. I'll be spending this week finalising the schedule, planning my outfit and trying not to buy myself too many more pretty things.

Don't forget that you can keep up with daily happenings over on my Instagram. I'd love to have you join me there! And, as ever, if you enjoy my blog, please do share it with others.

How are you spending the three day weekend?
Have fun, whatever you do!

  1. I'm so sorry to hear about your friend, but whatever luck and good vibes I can send, I am sending them your way!! I hope you can still enjoy your birthday though!

That poodle is just the cutest!

    1. Thanks, lady. It's all a bit unclear at the moment. Will find out what's happening this week, hopefully.

Omg, I want to steal Felix the poodle! He's so cute!

I love to read your comments and thoughts, so why not leave me some Tiny Grey Cat chat!
